2014 In the Silence, Name Me 32 x 48 Property of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Olympia WA

silk painting named "In the Silence, name me"

This piece was made for a contemplative service, to denote peace, silence, and digging deeper into one’s center. I began envisioning a black hole, with everything being drawn in and down to the deep. The thing about a black hole is, that even though everything gets drawn in, there is also light that gets thrown back out again! An interesting idea when thinking about the results of having a meditation practice in my life. On this one, I brushed on a light double-graded wash before waxing out the lettering and continuing with more color.
